14 Problems Only London Cyclists Will Understand

12. Bus Drivers Believe You're In Their Lane

We need to stop calling them Bus Lanes. Sure, they're used by buses but most of them are also legally used at any time by taxis, motorbikes and you, the cyclist. You'll note that the signs usually have a picture of a bike on them as a helpful little illustration that you're in the right place. Despite this, a majority of bus drivers seem hell bent on ignoring the signs and treating these lanes like their own vehicular fiefdom. They may choose to express their frustration at your presence by getting as close to you as possible. Do not be intimidated. Cycle on, friend.
