12. Hadrian's Wall
Also known as "The Roman Wall", this historic tourist attraction was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Building started in AD 122 and took 6 years to build. A significant proportion of the wall still exists to this day. Although there are many theories as to why the wall was built, there's no surviving record to explain its definite purpose. However it was built with small forts installed known as milecastles every few miles which, would suggest it was used in battle.
