When it comes to social media blogs, Mashable is pretty much king. Created by Pete Cashmore in 2005, Mashable provides news related to social media, as well as entertainment, technology, business, and more. We may not understand what "Mashable" means (or why it's not called Cashable), but we love it all the same. Their tagline is "All That's New On The Web," and they pride themselves on providing the best news for what they call "The Connected Generation." Their success can clearly be seen by their impressive social media numbers, of which they have millions of followers. They were almost bought by CNN in 2012, but Cashmore kept the company and remains CEO, despite resisting constant pleas to rename the site to Cashable. Why It's Going To Rule... 2013 was a very busy period for the website, as it rolled out many new features, topics, and even a new website design. With 2014 getting underway, we can expect to see the website to continue to grow its audience and even expand. Recently, Mashable announced that it is raising millions of dollars in order to continue its expansion with more offices and employees. This is actually the first time Mashable has ever had outside investors, which proves that they are on the cusp of increasing their online influence.
