What's the best way to advertise a hot new game system? Show off the slick graphics? Maybe feature some gameplay from exclusive titles not available on competing systems? Or how about make consumers associate your product with a terrifying demonic baby?

This 2007 commercial seems less like a promo for the Playstation 3 and more like a teaser for the new Lars Von Trier film. It features a creepy baby doll sitting in a white room with nothing but a Playstation, all while eerie music plays straight from the soundtrack of your nightmares. The doll starts laughing maniacally, it cries only for the tears to crawl back inside its eyes, and then...that's it. What the hell was that?

This wasn't even some obscure spot that ran a few times and was immediately pulled. No, this was one of the primary ways Sony was marketing the PS3, and this horrific baby was absolutely everywhere. Sony would later explain it was meant to represent that the Playstation is such an awesome power that the baby experiences a wide range of emotions when seeing it, but nobody really got that. The average viewer just thought it was an experimental art project or an updated version of the video from The Ring, and it probably produced more sleepless nights than sales.
