15 Problems Only People Who Work For A Pub Chain Will Understand
12. The Quick Staff Turn Over
Away from smaller independent restaurants, pub chain locations might have up to 200 or so staff in one building due to the capacity space inside. And that is a lot of names to learn on your first day on the job. Pub chains seem to attract a large number of students to their work forces, meaning that for three months a year you've got your friendly group of friends who fool you into thinking they're staying forever. But then they leave you come September following a stressful uber-busy summer period, and you're left with the permanent staff (who never seem to be quite as fun) for the long months of autumn and winter. Come the next summer, you're another year older, have perhaps been promoted to head waitress, and no longer have the enthusiasm to learn the names of the new wave of students who have come to work alongside you.
I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
