Not many people know it, but Yorkshire has incredible surf and a surfing culture that's growing all the time. Those in search of solid waves head to historic seaside towns like Scarborough while hardier souls brave the wild washes of Sandsend, a tiny town near Whitby that boasts waves so high they frequently engulf the place. Okay, so maybe the famous Yorkshire weather isn't conducive to getting a tan while you're at it, but we still manage to teach the south east a thing or two about hardcore surfing.
