From childhood we are taught to never judge a person by their appearance, the way they dress, or the color of their skin. We were told that it is wrong to make assumptions about people you dont know. As they say, Never judge a book by its cover. Then you grow up and realize that nobody follows that lesson. The entire world is run on first impressions. Even those who make conscious attempts to repulse this behavior succumb to it. Its not our fault; we are hardwired through generations of evolutionary reinforcement to make assumptions based on what we see. Thats a force of nature a couple childhood lessons have no hope of beating completely. Doesnt mean we shouldnt keep trying though.
