15 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do With Your Macbook

1. Delaying Emails

Sometimes, an email needs to be sent at a specific time. Perhaps it's a job application, or a submission that would look unprofessional being sent at 2am which is when the writing was actually finished - for whatever reason, Apple does not have an obvious way to send delayed emails. It does, however, have a way to send delayed emails. Hidden in OS X is a program called Automator, that you can use to automate other applications. Open it, select a new document, and choose "Application". Navigate through the reams of commands, or search for "New Mail Message". Type your message into the window on the right hand side, and then find "Send Outgoing Messages" and drag and drop it underneath your email in the right hand window. Then save this Automator application anywhere you want. Step One, complete. Step Two: Open your Calendar app, create an event at the time you want the email to be send, and change the Alert setting to Custom. That then gives users the option to open a file, and then any Macbook user can choose the Automator application file they just created. Provided their Macbook is turned on at the Calendar time, it will send the email then and there. This also works for other programs, so Macbook users can have a play with scheduling. Are there any nifty tips and tricks we missed? Let us know in the comments!
