It's often overlooked that America rocks at having oysters wash up onshore. Both the West and East coast are ridiculously famous for having some of the best oyster bars in the world. In fact, the top 3 oyster bars in the world are American (along with plenty more in the top 25), cementing us at being the authority on not dying from raw shell meat. I won't deny that the British have excellent seafood, but we have them beat when it comes to these mollusks.
2. Jeans (And Denim In General)
Most of the world's supply of jeans has been inspired by the good 'ol American denim industry. We can thank Italy for inventing it, but the world's growing use of jeans has much to do with our longtime fascination with denim pants. We buy jeans more than any other country in the world, and the UK is a distant second. Is it because we pull it off better? That's too subjective for me to say, but I do know for sure that no country is more obsessed with jeans than the U.S.
1. Blockbuster Movies
Not the forgotten rental stores. The cultural staple of releasing big-budget action movies during the hottest months of summer is done by no one better than America. I'll admit that America doesn't have the best movies overall, but I'll brag all day about the fact that a movie about The Avengers, Superman, and Batman are all coming out within a few months of each other. We make events out of our summer blockbusters, with lines going out of movie theaters before the biggest releases. I guess the more honest thing to say, then, is that America is just way better at obsessing over things we think are awesome. What else do we Americans do better than the Brits?
