17 Disneyland Secrets They Don't Know Want You To Know
10. The Matterhorn Has A Hidden Basketball Court
The Matterhorn Mountain Bobsleds is one of the lesser-loved attractions at the original Disneyland - they didn't even bother finishing construction of an equivalent at the Paris park - but that doesn't mean it's not fun.
It's modelled after the real-life Matterhorn, a mountain in the Swiss Alps, and was one of the first tubular steel continuous track roller coaster ever constructed when it opened in 1959, whatever that means. But it also is pretty fun!
There are two interlinking tracks so the carts, like, fly past each other! It also has the forced perspective thing going on that Sleeping Beauty's castle has, making you think it's bigger than it is.
It's also a lot more fun for the employees, who know about a section of the mountain's insides that you'll never see when you're climbing aboard the bobsleds. One of the other hollowed-out sections features a miniature basketball court that can only be accessed by cast members, whose break area is also included somewhere within the mountain, behind locked doors.
The court was relocated slightly during the 50th anniversary celebration, but the hoop and playing area remain intact and is said to still be there today by many cast members.
