King was an extremely controversial figure in the USA during a time of heightened racial turbulence - and he was jailed an incredible 29 times in all, including for his passive-resistant actions. However, not all of his arrests were for civil disobedience - in fact he was charged with speeding - but one of his most-famous convictions was for his role supporting Rosa Parks during the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott.
