Film: Mulan What makes Shan-Yu such a threat is his sense of superiority because of his almost superhuman strength and military position. He kills in cold blood in order to send a message to the opposition, evoking fear and doubt into the minds of the enemy. Whilst the men quiver in their boots at the warrior who can escape an avalanche unscathed, it's the young Mulan who has the courage to stand up to him. Mulan, Disney's first female warrior and in Shan-Yu's defence, he is the only one who treats Mulan as an equal. He doesn't mind treating her the same as a man and is willing to kill her like any other soldier, whereas everyone else who was previously close friends with her until they discovered her true identity, dismissed her based on her gender alone. Power Rating: Shan-Yu has superhuman strength which allows him to survive cold climates and an avalanche. Physically, he is exceptionally tall and well built, making him a nightmare for all of those who stand against him.
