18 Problems All WHSmith Employees Will Understand

7. People Don't Appreciate Their Coupons

Every week there's some new bit of WH Smith promo to hand out, in the form of leaflets, coupons and vouchers. And customers get surprisingly angry about these token freebies you're handing out left right and centre. You: "Here's a coupon allowing you five pound off next time you spend twenty pounds on books" Customer: "No thanks, I don't need that" What do they mean, they don't need it? They really MIGHT need it! People turning free stuff down in this day and age baffles you. The fact that you're ordered to hand these bits of paper out as part of your job means that these people you're serving should just take them, right? Even if it's just to help you out. You're surrounded by piles of the bloody things; in fact you're practically buried under a mountain of paper that you knocked off the till all over yourself. Can't people just give you a break?

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
