8. Humans Share 50% Of Their DNA With Bananas

Plant and animal life separated about 1.5 billion years ago, but we still share our DNA with some most unexpected things to this day. You may well be familiar with the fact that 98.8% of our genes are shared with chimps; but there are plenty more species with hugely close genetic similarities, like cows, fruit flies...and bananas. If we consider the genetic code as a book, entire pages will be repeated in one species but not the other. So that means half our DNA bible is identical to the curvy yellow fruit.
