15. There's No Room For Progression

If you decide that a career in retail is for you then you might find that it's be difficult to get a promotion. Most of the supervisors and managers are in it for the long haul and unless you're willing to move to another store, you might be waiting a while to get anywhere. Even struggling to get full time hours can be difficult and you're always questioning the management as to why they keep on hiring more part time staff members when you need full time hours. And whenever there is an opportunity for progression, they always decide that they'll want new blood and hire externally. But if you do get promoted, you'll usually find that the pressure of the job is too much considering the salary that they're paying you.
