Law's Origin: 1996 (year law was last re-codified by state)

Risk of Prosecution: Empty stomachs

Alcohol is no exception to the bizarre and completely moronic laws afflicting the United States at a local level. In order to serve beer to their patrons every bar in Nebraska must also be able to serve a cup of soup.

Although this law probably stems from bars at one point being required to serve food along with alcohol, it still looks plenty weird in hindsight. If you're looking to own a bar in Nebraska, might I suggest saving on overhead by having a steaming pot of ramen in the back ready to go.

Our Rating: Just pour some whiskey in my beer instead. Wait, that's also illegal?
