20 London Attractions You Need To Visit Before You Die

Be sure to visit these brilliant attractions next time you're in the capital!

London is a big place. Like, really, really big. One of only 30 locations in the world to be considered a megacity, London is an international cultural capital, covering a total area of over 3,000kmĀ². It's also the most visited city on Earth, as measured by international arrivals, making the tourism industry in London a very big business. Needless to say, it can be difficult for visitors in the city to choose from the huge variety of attractions in the area. If you're a first-time tourist in London, you've probably already got a set list of places to visit: the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Big Ben, etc, etc. No list of alternate locations or discussions of why it's best to avoid the particularly crowded areas are likely to change your mind. However, if you've already sampled most of the 'classic' attractions, then you're probably in the market for some less conventional places to visit. This list takes a look at 20 attractions slightly off the usual beaten track, that you really need to try out next time you're in London. From quirky museums to alternative ways to view the city, these locations are sure to offer a better experience than queuing for three hours to get on the London Eye.

20. Prince Charles Cinema

There aren't many independent cinemas left in England. The Prince Charles Cinema, located just a few steps north of Leicester Square, is the only independent cinema in the entirety of central London. Fortunately though, it's absolutely brilliant. Known for regularly screening films on 35mm film, the Prince Charles is a cult cinema in every sense of the word. Watching a movie here is more than what you'd normally expect from your typical Odeon or Cineworld, and can be an epic event in its own right. Fancy a proper movie marathon? Try the Prince Charles' overnight screening of the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy. Want an interactive experience? The frequent sing-along Rocky Horror Picture Show nights have got you covered. The place even has a team of ninjas dressed in black morphsuits that will hunt down anyone using a mobile phone or kicking seats. Now that's service! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAJySOso584
