8. Hoover Insisted White House Staff Remain "Invisible"
So Herbert Hoover was sort of a massive douche. Whilst others became a little too close with their White House staff, Hoover did the exact opposite during his four years in office as the 31st President Of The United States, where he demanded that all White House staff remain effectively invisible to both him and the First Lady Lou Henry. What exactly did that entail? Well, any time either of the Hoovers entered a room where a White House staff member cleaners, tea girls, that sort of thing was working, the servants were expected to leave the room before they got through the door, or else leap into the nearest closet to avoid being seen. Real man of the people.
