4. The Pepsi-Cola Company Entered Bankruptcy During The Great Depression Due To The Huge Increase In The Price Of Sugar

During the very height of the Great Depression, the Pepsi-Cola Company entered bankruptcy in 1931 - largely as a result of the huge increase in sugar prices. The company had speculated on fluctuating sugar prices during World War I and ended up losing out, forcing them into bankruptcy.

Even when the company was available for cheap and was in bankruptcy in the early-1930s Coca-Cola still declined to purchase Pepsi-Cola, however.
