18. The Cup Sizes Such As "Tall" And "Venti" Are Meaningless... They Were Made Up In A Conference Room

Do You Mean A Venti? Gif Current chairman and CEO of Starbucks Howard Schultz introduced the company's famous size names for their coffees in 1986 - but in a separate business venture. After opening Il Giornale, Schultz introduced sizes including "Tall" (350ml), "Grande" (470ml, and Italian for "large") and "Venti" (590ml, and Italian for "twenty") - before bringing them with him once he returned to Starbucks. Yet these names don't actually mean anything in particular - with Schultz's former business partner Dawn Pinaud readily admitting that the pair of them simply made them up in a conference room. They are actually utterly meaningless...
