10. BK Turns To The Dark Side
Kuro is the Japanese word for black, so it follows that the Kuro Pearl and Kuro Diamond burgers, sold by Burger King Japan, consist of a black-pepper burger in a black bun, served with black cheese and a sauce made from squid ink. After McDonalds began to darken its products, selling black bun burgers in Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan, Burger King hopped on the bandwagon in 2012 and introduced the Premium Kuro Burger. It was followed a year later by the Kuro Ninja, which was the same burger with an added slice of bacon. Though popular with Japanese diners, restaurant critics in the rest of the world have yet to be won over. In 2014, The Independent called the Premium Kuro harrowing and 480 yen worth of nope.
