Apple's conferences have been a big deal for a good while now. Perhaps before they didn't quite have the fervent, somewhat hysterical crowds (or column inches) of a political rally or cult meeting as they do now, but the company have always gone all-out with their keynotes and predictions for the future. Like that video they made about the digital personal assistant they were working on... ...in 1987. Yep, it looks like Siri was in the works for years although whether it was always going to make those 2001: A Space Odyssey jokes has yet to be confirmed. Well, more likely it's just a coincidence, but still, it's a pretty huge coincidence that Apple predicted one of its major breakthroughs twenty years in advance. Especially when their promo video involving the digital assistant was looking forward to the far-off future of September 16th, 2011. The iPhone 4S, which debuted Siri, hit shelves on October 14th, 2011. So not only did it seem planned for decades, they were only a month late.
