20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Apple

18. Isaac Newton Was In Their Original Logo

Regardless of which way up it is, that Apple logo has been ingrained into the public consciousness. Before it got its current monochromatic form the Macintosh icon was any number of other hues €“ most frequently a bunch at the same time, a colourful rainbow hidden within a fruit. But even before that, they had a totally different logo that was only slightly less literal but was a lot less simple, clean and perfect. Apple's very first logo was designed by Ronald Wayne and featured Isaac Newton, that brainbox who €œdiscovered€ gravity when he was sitting on his arse under an apple tree and got clonked on the head by one. The original logo is really complicated compared to what came later, with an illustration of Newton under the tree, a motto about €œA MIND VOYGAGING THROUGH STRANGE SEAS OF THOUGHT ALONE€ (is this a logo or a prog rock album) and text in banners. Apple realised the detail was lost when printed small, so they scrapped it.
