11. He And His Wife Own Multiple Radio Stations
Music is important in the world of Stephen King. The man himself puts numerous references to bands and songs into his work, at least partially inspired by the music he listens to whilst writing. He's a particular fan of AC/DC the entirety of the soundtrack to his film Maximum Overdrive being songs of theirs and The Ramones he wrote the liner notes for a tribute album to the New York punk band.
It goes further than just the odd shout-out and favour for his favourite acts, though. Stephen and Tabitha King are the owner/operators of The Zone Corporation, a company which oversees the three radio stations they run in their native state of Maine.
WZON is a progressive political talk radio station which airs in Bangor, sister station WZLO broadcasts an adult album alternative format, and WKIT-FM serves Brewer with offices in Bangor and boasts the tagline Stephen King's Rock 'n' Roll Station. The latter even makes a cameo in his time-travelling epic 11/22/63, about a guy who goes back in time to stop the Kennedy assassination one of the characters is a DJ there in one timeline.
