Some Americans seem to think that Brits are bitter about the Revolutionary War. This isn't remotely true though, and most Brits wouldn't even think to mention it in a discussion of Britain's history.
7. The Queen Is The Ruler Of Britain
The British monarchy has not had any real political power for a long time. Beyond ceremony and bringing in tourists, the Queen doesn't have any more power in Britain than she does in any other commonwealth country.
