1. Realising You Should Probably Figure Out What You're Going To Do With Your Life
If there's one thing that hits home in your thirties - if it hasn't already for the maturer people in their twenties - it's that it's about time to really figure out what it is you want to do with your life. It becomes clear that the question you were always asked as a youngster - what do you want to be when you grow up? - is actually one worth considering finding an answer to. Of course, most people when they reach their thirties have a different answer to this question - some of us try and cling on to the carefree and fun partying times which characterised our earlier years while others have been brave enough to embark upon careers which, we hope, won't become the subject of regrets later in life. If we have kids of our own we realise that their future is in our hands; if we don't body clocks start ticking ever faster as the opportunity to start a family of our own fades into the distance. Still, regardless of what the thirtysomething decides to do with their life from that point onwards there's really no need to rush to a decision - life, after all, begins at forty.
