Regardless of spreadsheets, quality, lesson plans, it€™s about the teaching. It€™s about the love of the job. Yes, there are down points. Every job has them. Teaching, and dealing with young people desperate to understand new ideas and concepts, is what it€™s all about. Laughing with them, supporting them when they€™re down, congratulating them when they succeed. That year of teacher training was worth it for the job of helping young people aspire to their dreams. You enter the class and smile as Barry, Gary and Carrie sit nervously in their new class. You€™re in charge now. You can do anything. Mould them in any way possible. You€™re in charge. So, what do you do? Some ice-breakers and an introduction to the course guide, just like you€™ll do ever year until you retire. Maybe you€™ll even get them to talk about themselves for a few minutes. The cycle of teaching. Some things never change.
