You're really not sure why but in recent years it has become necessary to create these team-building games as a "fun" way of getting to know and trust new colleagues. Why on earth you can't just find out the normal way like in any other environment, you have no idea. Instead of just getting to work and finding out if you're right about the person you immediately suspect is entirely unlikeable, you fall subject to humiliating tasks such as carrying a balloon between your legs in a race, because apparently that's the most efficient way to reveal someone's character... It sounds like some idiot's idea of bunking off an afternoon of work.
