20 Toys That Were Your Childhood

16. Hungry Hungry Hippos

WikipediaWikipediaPropagating ravenous greed in children from an early age, the four colourful chaps in question here were so hungry they had to tell us twice. Hungry Hungry Hippos was a four-player game that emphasized hurried binge eating over anything else - pound your hippo's lever as fast as your sticky little hands could manage, shoveling those marbles down its throat like a fat man at a pie eating contest. This was an eat-to-win buffet that inevitably turned into a frenzied mess no matter how zen-like the players involved. Fast, frantic and over before you knew it, If you could get through a round of this without sending balls reeling into the air in the heat of passion, you're a better person than most.

15. Monster In My Pocket

YouTubeYouTubeThey played this one directly at our collector tendencies. It didn't matter that the Monster In My Pocket figures were cheaply made, rather badly modelled and not even especially fun to play with; all we needed to know was that each of these rubbery lumps was numbered. Which meant we had to have all of them, come hell or high water. Initially based on various monsters, vile creatures and beasts from legend, the Monster In My Pocket range eventually grew to include dinosaurs, aliens and more, the franchise was eventually so watered down that kids started to lose interest. Still, in its heyday, you were a nobody if you didn't have a monster in your pocket.
