18. Melania Trump's Speech Rips Off Michelle Obama's
A truly bizarre moment in the election cycle came in June, when Trump's wife Melania spoke at the Republican National Convention, where she cribbed significant portions of her speech (including an entire paragraph) from Michelle Obama's speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
It later transpired that speechwriter Meredith McIver was apparently to blame due to a miscommunication during the drafting process, though the Trumps refused to kick McIver off the campaign as a result.
More than anything, it was an incredibly odd, senseless moment that just distracted from anything remotely interesting or useful Mrs. Trump might have to say.
It didn't hurt Trump at all with his supporters, but it didn't exactly help him either.
