5. Make A Timeout Bottle
To avoid the tears that come with timeout, use a timeout bottle. Fill the bottle 3/4 of the way with water, then add a bottle of glitter glue, and a small tube of glitter. Give the bottle a shake and tell the child they can resume playing when the glitter settles, then watch as they sit quietly and stare at it. Bonus: any attempts to tamper with the bottle will result in more time on the clock.
4. Padlock The Plug To Keep Electronics Off
This is for the parents of teenagers. Taking away their phones and other mobile devices is easy, but what about their gaming systems, computers, and televisions? Put a small padlock on the plug to make sure those electronics stay off. Bonus: hide the key somewhere in the house and make your child decipher increasingly difficult clues to find it.
