Confusingly, George W Bush was the 43rd President of the United States - while his father, George H W Bush, was the 41st. The "H W" in his father's name stands for "Herbert Walker" - with the "W" in his own being an initial for "Walker" too. "Walker" was Bush Jnr's paternal grandmother's maiden name, hence it being given as the middle name to her son and then grandson.
