One of the biggest problems in the developing world is access to clean drinking water. Many of these poorer countries lack the sophisticated filtration systems that wealthier countries possess, and so many people end up drinking contaminated water. This often leads to many terrible diseases, and something as simple as diarrhea can become a fatal affliction.

To combat this problem, both scientists and private businesses have created breakthrough inventions of different varieties that make dirty water safe for drinking. These revolutionary devices remove any contaminants from a water source, making it safe for humans to drink. Suddenly, boiling water isn’t required to remove bacteria.

Not only is this an excellent way to help save millions of impoverished people in the developing world, but this can have serious ramifications on the future. If this technology can remove all pollutants from water, then the technology used to make this invention might be used to create a specific kind of filtration system that could make saltwater drinkable. As ridiculous as that might sound, it might have to become something worth considering for the future, as fresh water sources become more and more scarce.

But as this invention currently stands, it’s a marvel of human ingenuity. If developed fully, it can bring about a great reduction in death from water-borne diseases, and give even the poorest of populations a chance at survival.
