What? Yes, the series did get darker and it had to; most battles on the lead up, aren't full of laughter, puppies and unicorns - Voldy probably drained all of them for their blood for sustenance for a starter. They were more entertaining because you were more invested in the characters and it was so intense that after eight years, it's still too soon.
