After having served 27 years in prison, the plight of Nelson Mandela was much-publicised in the 1990s after his 1990 release. Here he is in London on July the 10th in 1996 with British Prime Minister John Major and Mandela's long-time friend Alf Kumalo - a photographer who knew the South African president for more that fifty years.
