28. Holding The Door Open For Someone Who Is Too Far Away

This is an awkward dilemma that many people needlessly put themselves in every day all because they're too polite and recognise that chivalry isn't dead. You'll hold open the door for someone thinking that they're closer behind you than they really are and once they've twigged on to the fact that you're holding the door for them, they start to do the awkward jiggle which is halfway between a slow jog and a fast walk. Everyone else behind this person then assumes that the door is magically staying ajar by itself and you, the doorman, are not thanked or even tipped for your services.
