4 Ways Walt Disney World Reacted To Child's Death After Alligator Attack

3. Fencing Around The Lake

Last Friday, Jacquee Wahler, the Vice President of Walt Disney World Resort released a statement saying that Disney would not only be looking at signage, but would be adding temporary barriers around the beaches. This procedure has already started to take shape.

The very same day construction began on new fencing close to the area where Lane was taken by the gator.

It is not clear if the fencing is there to prevent alligators from venturing onto the beach, or more to discourage guests from getting to close to the shore line. Given the type of fence that has been installed, it does appear to be more a warning to guests that the water is not to be played in.

In her statement Wahler said "We are installing signage and temporary barriers at our resort beach locations and are working on permanent, long-term solutions at our beaches".

It seems that these rope and wooden fences might not necessarily be a permanent fixture, but it could be some time before Disney finds other ways to handle this issue.
