5 Animated Short Films That Will Leave You Speechless
1. Five Thirty-Five - Alex Dunford
Five Thirty Five is for the surrealist in you. Chaotically charged and caring little for narrative standards, it shows a series of businessmen dashing from work to their goal of “home”, avoiding obstacles along the way. The animation style is simplistic to the point of being crude, but that ends up working in its favour, as it’s like a fever dream, rambling and aggressive.
It’s also damn funny. Watching the small men and women tumble from the surface of their strange world in varying insane ways will provide mirth amidst the confusion, and the payoff for all these events is a perfect summary of our day-to-day lives.
Hard work, stress, family pressures, and back to the grind again. Just with slightly less crab monsters.
So those were but 5 shorts to check out if you’re looking to dip your toe into the world of animation, but if you want to see these and so many more, you can visit http://www.cardiffanimation.com/ and visit the event yourself.
The Cardiff animation festival runs from 19th-22nd April.
