4. Visit Newgrange
Newgrange is one of the most striking examples of ancient Stone Age construction in Europe. This colossal complex was built 5,000 years ago, making it older than the Pyramids of Giza, and Stonehenge in England. It is a passage tomb, but the size of it classifies it as more of an Ancient Temple. On 21st December each year, the shortest day of the year, a slit in the walls of the tomb is illuminates the entire temple, the only day on which this occurs. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is a part of a complex of ancient monuments known collectively as "BrĂș na Boinne" Newgrange is in Meath, close to Dublin, so try and arrange a trip through a tourist office or local company.
