6 Reasons University Life Isn't What Society Thinks

4. That It Lasts A Considerable Length Of Time

Student Woman University semesters in the UK last from around the September mark through to (depending on what year you€™re in) around the May to June mark. Even within that time you€™ll be taking random weeks off that the university sanctions, or having full days rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, and as soon as you hit third year its head down dissertation-time. The entire period absolutely flies by, mostly as a result of meeting so many new people and having a wealth of new experiences, however almost none of them will be academically-related. Chances are that you€™ll remember the first time you barfed up a lung trying a lethal mix of whiskey and wine before you€™ll recite the difference between qualitative and quantitative research methods. When all is said and done, it€™s the second year that is the closest to what you expect the full experience to be like. Awkward first-meets have been forgotten and friendships perfected, people have settled into their work regimens (or lack thereof), and the looming shadow of third-year's workload brings the entire course ever-closer together in a €˜let€™s-make-the-most-of-this-while-we-can€™ kind of way.
