Bill is not just a brilliant scientific mind, he also manages to make things as mundane as a grocery list sound poetic and exciting. Whether he is speaking on space, climate change or evolution, he somehow makes it something that you want to listen to. He allows people's minds to connect with intricate scientific notions like, how various poop becomes fossilized. For that, the world is grateful. Another reason his word carries such weight lies in his penchant to never back down. Always prepared, he comes to a debate with an arsenal full of facts but delivers them with the unique sophistication of an artist. Who doesn't want someone by their side that can eviscerate naysayers with a blade of red hot knowledge?
