People have long fascinated by pyramids. Hours and hours of documentaries putting forwards increasingly outrageous ideas as to their origins are virtually shown on a loop, and the internet, true to form, is bristling with various ideas as to how they came about. One of the things that particularly seems to blow people's minds, is that pyramid structures appear all over the world, in civilisations that may never have even see one another, let alone passed on advanced building techniques. Could this mean that they were getting their blueprints from aliens? Or even heavenly visions? These options also seem to support the idea that some people have that the pyramids are far too advanced to have been built all those millennia ago. Pyramid building aliens/angelic hordes is certainly an exciting prospect, but perhaps it's more likely that a giant pyramid is just a really good way of arranging stones so they don't fall down. It's probably not even beyond the wit of those poor, primitive ancients to figure that one out. They also look an awful lot like the biggest thing that ancients would have encountered: Mountains (also famous for not falling down that often). What better way to display your wealth and power than by mimicking the mightiest thing in the landscape and building a pyramid? They're not, however, super-practical for day-to-day life, which is probably why all the houses, cowsheds and market stalls that surrounded them weren't pyramid shaped and have since been reclaimed by the landscape.
