7 Terrifying Monsters That Are (Sort Of) Definitely Real

There never seemed to be a lot of choice for my younger sister when we were deciding on Halloween costumes as children. Nine times out of ten she would just bite the bullet and don a pointy hat and cape yet again. However, going out dressed as a witch is by no means the short straw. The things that modern day daughters of Satan get up to will make your blood freeze.

In July 2013, a horse rider travelling through Dartmoor National park in Devon came across a dead foal lying on the grass. Upon closer inspection, the foal had apparently been mutilated in a gruesome manner. An investigation by police suggested that the foal had been killed and dragged to the spot the night before, by the light of a full moon. The surgical nature of the injuries and a trace of white paint found on the body indicated that the act had almost certainly been done by a person rather than a natural predator. Scorch marks in the grass suggested the foal had been surrounded by a ring of candles at some point. Its right ear, tongue and genitals had been cut away and its eyeballs had been taken out.

The spookiest part of the story though is the notion that it would be fairly difficult for one individual to catch the foal, suggesting they weren€™t working alone. The perpetrators were never found but it was concluded that they were probably members of a satanic cult.

This is not an isolated incident. Sheep and pony mutilations have occurred surprisingly frequently in recent years in Dartmoor and elsewhere in the country, as well as in the States. A particularly grisly spate in 2006 resulted in dozens of sheep being killed and disfigured throughout the year. The bodies were found in a similar condition to the Dartmoor foal but they had also had their rectums cored out and a square of skin removed.

It€™s a wonder how a couple of witches had chance to commit that many sheep mutilations in just twelve months to be honest. Maybe one of them had a Time Turner.
