7 Unsolvable Mysteries (That We Can Totally Solve)

6. A Sea Creature That Ate A Nine-Foot Great White Shark

To keep track of some of the more rare and mysterious creatures on our planet, scientists and conservationists often tag them electronically. Marine biologists in Australia, however, got more than they bargained for when they tagged a nine foot great white shark with a device to measure location, depth, and temperature.

Just four months after being installed, the tracking device started registering some odd readings. At 4:00 am on Christmas Eve, it suddenly plunged 1,900 feet into the depths of the ocean and detected a temperature rise from 46 to 78 degrees - about the temperature of the belly of a sea creature. The researchers concluded that something truly colossal must have eaten the nine foot killer shark. A sea monster? The kraken? Perhaps the ancient megalodon still survives in the ocean's murky depths?

The researchers finally concluded that it must have been another giant, cannibalistic shark, estimated to be 16 foot long and weigh over 2 tons that finished off the nine footer.

It's certainly an awe-inspiring prospect, but perhaps we should consider the possibility that something just bit off the tag. It's much more plausible that something would take a chunk out of a dorsal fin during a fight, swallow the tag and eventually excrete it, even if it is less exciting.
