6. He Used Biological Warfare To Defeat His Enemies
When Vlad became prince, or voivode in Romanian, in 1456 he took steps towards Romanian independence by attempting to overcome a puppet government that had been set up in Wallachia, under the rule of his father. His father was paying tribute to the Turks and that was something that Vlad just couldn't get behind. One tactic that he employed was biological warfare. He took the sickly from his region, disguised them as Turks and sent them to infiltrate Ottoman camps, where the plague was soon spread. Thats a smart way to take down the enemy. Upon discovery, the Turks attempted to retaliate but were too horrified to do so when they came upon thousands of their own men impaled upon stakes in a forest, dying slow and painful deaths. The bodies stretched across 700 acres and vultures picked at them. An excellent tactician, Vlad also used biological warfare when the Turks mounted an attack on Tirgovite and he poisoned the well water, ensuring that the attacking horde would have no resources, and those that consumed the water would die.
