In the Sisaket province, Thailand lies one of the most unique structures in the world, the Temple of a Million Beers. It is a Buddhist temple that was made from over 1.5 million beer bottles — mostly from brands like Heineken and Chang.

The idea for the structure, which is technically known as Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, was conceived back in the early-1980s. The first building was completed in 1986, and by 2009, roughly twenty additional beer bottle-based structures had been added. These crafty monks even used the bottle caps to create mosaics for their homes.

The monks responsible for the concept thought it was a great way to help lead a green lifestyle while keeping millions of glass bottles out of nearby landfills. This innovate temple is an excellent example of sustainable architecture and has become a popular tourist destination as well.
