8 Mind Blowing Facts About The Human Race

2. Our Bubble Of Radio Signals Has Reached Distant Stars

In the short time the human species has existed, we've not only exerted our influence over this planet, but also out into space.

Since we began broadcasting radio signals over a century ago, they have proliferated outwards, moving at the speed of light, in a bubble around the Earth.

Although, in the grand scheme of the universe, 100 light years is but a tiny blip on the map, this bubble does actually encompass a number of star systems. Within 74 light years, these signals begin to include television broadcasts.

Could it be that distant civilisations around distant stars are watching our vintage TV shows and listening to old human radio programmes - not to mention the signals that we have been intentionally broadcasting in the search for alien life - or is our human noise simply washing over empty, barren space?
