8 Modern Inventions That Are Actually Super Ancient
6. Mesopotamian Customer Complaints
Discovering a piece of ancient writing is always an exciting occasion for any archaeologist. What could this voice from the depths of history have to tell us? Will it reveal some ancient wisdom? Perhaps this is some kind of prayer or ritual object (archaeologists always think they're ritual objects)?
Well, it turns out that this particular bit of writing that an ancient mesopotamian by the name of Nanni chose to set in stone, is the 1750 BC equivalent of a Twitter rant. The clay message was sent by Nanni to an Ea-nasir to complain about the shoddy grade of copper ore has been delivered after a gulf voyage and about the delay of a further delivery.
Copper was big business back in the day and, understandably, Nanni is demanding his (it was most likely a man) money back and make it clear that he will be taking his business elsewhere in future after being treated with such outright "contempt".
Ice cold, Nanni, ice cold.
