8 Modern Inventions That Are Actually Super Ancient

2. The Hard Disk Of Phaistos

The Disk Of Phaistos
Wikipedia

Believed to date from 1700 BC the “Phaistos Disk” has been described by one of the researchers studying it as first Minoan "CD-ROM" for its shape and hard-coded data. It was found in Phaistos on the Greek island of Crete, at the beginning of 2Oth century and is made from a ceramic material.

Now, for the love of god don't put it in your disk drive, but this disk has encoded information imprinted on it in the form of 242 symbols. The information is also read-only, unless you happen to have a chisel and a callous disregard for ancient artefacts.

So far, the information on the disk has resisted total translation, but the parts that have been decoded seem to refer to a "Mother" or "Goddess" in the earliest known Greek written language.
