8 Reasons You Shouldn't Upgrade to Windows 10 Just Yet

6. Your Trusty Old Hardware Might Stop Working

With each major Windows release, older hardware tends to get left in the dust, even if it was working perfectly right up to the moment you upgraded your OS. Because Windows 10 is dropping XP Mode, hardware that runs on older drivers - be it printers, webcams, or those old phone/fax machine monstrosities that you could hook up to your PC - might stop working. There is still a compatibility mode in Windows 10, so you'll be able to run XP-era programs on Windows 10, but it might be time to bid farewell to some of those yellowed or beige PC peripherals that have been your trusty sidekicks for so many years. Who knows? Maybe it's best to get rid of your old hardware artificially like this rather than waiting for it to grind to a halt - sort of like mercifully putting down an old, arthritic dog with a lethal injection rather than waiting for it to die a painful, natural death.
